The Colour of Tweed

As dictated by legislation, the yarn used in Harris Tweed production must be spun and dyed in the Outer Hebrides from pure Scottish Virgin wool, blended from different colours in the local mills, to produce the world famous material recognised by its unique colour blend.

Garynahine Harris Tweed reflects the rich colours of the islands where it is made—the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, where rich colour combinations are evident in the Hebridean scenery.

The ever changing seasonal Hebridean moorlands (browns, greens, russets etc) the magnificent Hebridean shorelines (blues, greys, greens etc) and the ever majestic vast Hebridean skies with their constantly changing moods and rapidly changing light definitions show fiery red and orange sunsets and sunrises. The moodily magnificent stormy winter skies— greys, blues and white - colour is everywhere in the Outer Hebrides .

Garynahine Harris Tweed skillfully combines the best of all traditions, innovation, creativity and colour, producing both classic patterns and colours together with more modern brighter patterns – to meet customer demand.

Commission Weaving

Commission weaving is something we is happy to undertake where possible. A recent example of this is the Hebridean Celtic Festival Tweed 2009.

However there may be a minimum length of order required for a specifically commissioned tweed. Any party who would be interested or requires this service – can contact us at any time to discuss particular requirements, costs etc.
